For in person visit.
First question:
… so please tell us, why the name LiSA, and what are the main points in the proposal?
Story Counselor to LiSA
Starbucks story:
A woman sitting close by had been listening to our conversation, she came over to our table. She was a former classroom teacher. She told us that she was proud that we were doing this. When she left we continued talking and came up with a sketch for a new proposal, Life Skills 3.0.
Then one day last December we received a text from Armando that he was in San Antonio and that we should change the word counselor to advisor. That we should talk about it. When we did talk we decided to go with the name change.
We titled our proposal: Life Skills Advisors—LiSA. And submitted it.
The draft bill used the word ‘Counselor.’ A quest was made to replace the word counselor to advisor.

Hurry-hurry
the production of stress
For me the first school bell for the day is at 8:40AM. Five minutes later the late bell rings. Then there is settling in time, roll call, instruction time, and we begin to put our things away to get ready for the next bell. It goes on like this for me eight times every school day. Then there is the other stuff...
Hurry hurry to the next thing.

First Responder
We see a Like Skills Advisor on campus as a first responder to an incidence in which the police is at times the first response.
What do we normally think of when hear first responder? I think of a person in a rescue team, first on the scene of a disaster looking for survivors.
We see in school advisors to help detect .. ([the term needs help to understand LiSA).
For instance: incident story, handcuff, police car, driven away for all to see...parents called about the arrest and now the student has a police record. Over an argument, a scuffle?
Notes
Bill filed by state representative Armando Martinez from Weslaco. When we saw the bill draft it had the number 3898, and used Life Skills Counselors instead of Life Skills Advisors. We made a requested to replace the word Counselors with Advisors.
The revised bill included the term Life Skills Advisors. The bill number remained the same, 3898. The bill had been referred to the Select Committee on Youth Health and Safety. Nallely helped with the substitute bill.
And because of the change it is called a committee substitute bill. After being presented in a public hearing the bill was left pending.
Then three days later in a formal meeting the bill was again presented and in a public hearing rep. Ann Johnson, asked the witness opposing the bill if he was familiar with the term Restorative Practices. He answered that he was not and the representative went on to describe how it works and that studies report positive results. That a life skills circle is something similar. After and exchange the witness ended up agreeing but still opposed the bill.
The nine member committee approve the CSHB 3898 by a vote of 6 yes, 1 no, and 2 absent.
- Read bill caption-
• Substitute bill presented in committee hearing and left pending. (What, pending?)
• Sent out videos to committee members.
Days later the bill substitute is considered in committee meeting and voted out and sent to Calendars.
During the public hearing Rep Anna Johnson, asked a witness opposing the bill if he was familiar with the term Restorative Practices. He answered that he was not and the representative went to describe how it works and that studies proof it. That a life skills circle is something similar. After and exchange ended up agreeing but still opposed the bill.
